On behalf of the 2006 Pride & Heritage Celebration Committee, I would like to extend a valuable and unique opportunity to become a sponsor for the 7th Annual Pride & Heritage Celebration for the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month on May 6, 2006 at Club Chaos in Washington D.C.

Pride & Heritage (P&H) is a coalition of local community based organizations serving the Asian/Pacific Islander (A/PI) and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Working on a volunteer basis, the P&H Committee was formed to organize an event in celebration of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month from a distinctly LGBT perspective.

This year’s P&H Celebration will not only feature cultural performances, but also an opportunity to honor Gita Deane and APA Film for their contribution as tireless local advocates and supporters of the A/PI LGBT community.

During this event, we will unveil the first ever P&H Resource Guide. This guide will serve as a handbook to highlight the best of what the greater D.C. metropolitan area has to offer. Furthermore, this is a great opportunity for the A/PI and LGBT communities to recognize those who have contributed or are allies of our communities. The guide will list social organizations, health organizations, restaurants and myriad of other services and shops in the area. This will be given out to hundreds of community supporters over the course of the year at D.C. Capital Pride, community functions and national conferences, to name a few.

Information on Advertisement

A Resource Guide will be made available at the 2006 Pride & Heritage Celebration. Corporations, small businesses, community organizations and individuals are welcome to purchase advertisement space in the Resource Guide that reflects Pride & Heritage’s Sponsorship Guidelines and Underlying Principles. Only when we receive the Sponsorship Form, payment and advertisement materials, can we honor your request for advertisement in the Resource Guide.

Sponsorship Guidelines and Underlying Principles

Sponsorship of Pride and Heritage is a reflection of organizational support and commitment to the D.C. A/PI LGBT community. Through sponsorship, organizations and individuals support the efforts of D.C. A/PI LGBT organizations to create programming and events that affirm who we are and to share our heritage to broader A/PI, LGBT and other communities. Some of the guidelines that sponsoring organizations should keep in mind as they partner with us for Pride and Heritage:

As a community driven and primarily volunteer run effort, Pride and Heritage is committed to principles of progressive, grassroots collaboration. Financial support of Pride and Heritage is not a means to identify markets for commercialization and consumption.
Partnership with the organizers of Pride and Heritage allows sponsors to be supportive of the D.C. A/PI LGBT community to create its own programming based on its own vision and values. Organizers reserve the right to ensure that policies for Pride and Heritage that reflect that vision and those values. Sponsorship of Pride and Heritage indicates a willingness to develop a partnership with organizers that respects such policies.
The organizing committee of Pride and Heritage reserves the right to edit and/ or remove materials associated with its events (including advertising and Program Book materials) that do not reflect its vision and values, which include (but are not limited to): freedom of speech, self-determination for A/PI LGBT communities and others, and inclusion/ celebration of diversity in its broadest terms.
The organizing committee of Pride and Heritage supports programming and events that provide "safe space" for A/PI LGBT individuals. Sponsors are expected to respect any such spaces and every effort will be made to make appropriate arrangements between the organizing committee and sponsors to ensure the success of these types of programs.
